Premis Gaudí 2026: Frontera and Sirāt Lead the 18th Catalan Film Awards
08.02.2026The 18th Premis Gaudí ceremony, presented by the Acadèmia del Cinema Català (Catalan Film Academy), took place on 8 February 2026 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. The evening was dominated by two titles: Judith Colell’s historical thriller Frontera, which won Best Film, Best Supporting Actress (Bruna Cusí), Best Costume Design and the Audience Award; and Oliver Laxe’s Sirāt, named Best Non-Catalan-Language Film and winner of eight prizes in total.
Eva Libertad’s DEAF (Sorda) won Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Álvaro Cervantes). Albert Serra’s Afternoons of Solitude won Best Documentary and Best Editing. The ceremony celebrated one of the most productive years in recent memory for Catalan cinema, confirming the vitality and international reach of Galician-language and Spanish-language productions emerging from the region.
